What Is the Taste of Spicy?

I briefly talked about the taste of spicy in a previous post, so I won’t get into the technical aspects. But with that said, I want to make sure that I provide you with a good source of spicy ingredients to add a little interest when something is lacking. Personally, I’m a fan of spicy but not to the degree of making my nose run. I prefer to keep it at the level of making things interesting.

Add Zing for Interest

Today’s featured image is that of a Chorizo Fundido Chimichanga. Spicy? A little, but it wouldn’t be Mexican without a little heat.

Sometimes when cooking, and tasting, I’ll run across a moment when I say to myself, it still needs something. I add a touch of zing to my cole slaw. I always make the dressing first, tasting my way to the right balance of sweet and sour with a touch of heat. Typically, it comes with a little dash or two of Louisianna hot sauce. In my opinion, it adds just a hint of a little something that makes it memorable.

The following post from Blue Apron is a pretty solid list of spicy additions to your dishes.
